Tyrese Maxey tried his best on Tuesday night, but the rising Philadelphia 76ers star couldn’t push his team to a victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Not only was Maxey dealing with Zion Williamson and his impressive 33 points and 8 rebounds, but he was also hearing a lot of feedback from fans sitting courtside.

At one point in the game, Maxey started bickering with some fans, although it’s not entirely clear what started the argument.

Following the game, Maxey popped on Twitter to share some insight about the dispute.

“I don’t lose my cool often … I don’t like when people speak on my mom!” Maxey said.

The verbal spat between Maxey and the fan didn’t last long, and it certainly wasn’t as confrontational as other back-and-forths the league has recently seen.

But it was clear that Maxey was frustrated by the state of his team, and no one could blame him.

Any comment, about his playing or his squad or his mother, was sure to set him off.

The Sixers struggled all night long because they were without their biggest star.

Joel Embiid sat out of the game due to an undisclosed illness.

It was Maxey’s team and no one was surprised to see him lead his squad with 33 points.

DeAnthony Melton helped out a lot too and scored 17 points of his own.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans were looking red hot behind Williamson’s dominant performance and the return of CJ McCollum, who has been out for 12 games because of a collapsed lung.

The Sixers fell behind the Pelicans early in the game and although Maxey tried hard, they just couldn’t climb out of their hole.

The 12-6 Sixers are hoping that Embiid is back when they take on the Boston Celtics on Friday night.

As for Maxey, he is hoping he hears a lot more cheers and far fewer jeers from the crowd.
