Matt Bomer reveals that a White Collar revival is currently in the works. USA Network’s police procedural series from the late 2000s to the mid-2010s followed Bomer’s con man, Neal Caffrey teaming up with FBI’s Peter Burke (Tim DeKay) to solve white collar cases in New York. Between the pair’s chemistry and interesting premise, White Collar built a loyal fan base that is going to be thrilled with Bomer’s update about the possibility of seeing him again as Caffrey.

Speaking with TV Line in light of the release of his latest project, Fellow Travelers, Bomer shares that there are “legitimate talks” about a revival despite Caffrey’s fate at the end of White Collar, not to mention Willie Garson’s passing in 2022. For context, Garson played Mozzie, Caffrey’s trusted accomplice, who played an integral role in his arc in the show. Read Bomer’s full quote below:

Obviously, that’s the first thing that came to my mind, but I felt that what Ana Dumaraog Jeff Eastin presented to [star] Tim [DeKay] and I honors what he contributed to the how and honors him as a person. There’s no way I would ever be involved with it again if it didn’t do so. So I think it’s a way for him to, in some ways, still be a part of the show.”

What The White Collar Revival May Be About

Peter Burke and Neal Caffrey in White Collar

In the White Collar finale, Burke was able to take down the show’s final villain, Matthew Keller — Caffrey’s fellow con man and rival. During the whole ordeal, however, he was able to fatally shoot Caffrey in the chest, which resulted in his supposed death. Neal was believed to be dead, until a year later when it was revealed that he actually escaped to Paris. Whether the Whiter Collar revival picks up from this storyline is unclear, but it is definitely a great launching pad for what comes next for Caffrey and Burke.

The instigating story for the White Collar revival may also be part of the show’s efforts to honor Garson. Not one to back down from dangerous situations, Mozzie may have found himself in a difficult spot resulting in his death. This prompts Caffrey to reach out to Burke to find out who targeted their friend. Considering what Bomer has revealed about the project this far, this is arguably the best way to kick off the Whiter Collar revival. Not only does it incorporate Garson’s Mozzie into its storytelling, but the narrative is also very compelling.

In light of Suits‘ recent streaming domination, White Collar has the chance to become bigger than its original run through the upcoming revival. The two USA Network series had a lot of similarities, which means that the public is primed for another fast-paced, New York-set legal comedy-drama. Since it featured a rather small core ensemble, re-assembling the White Collar cast for the revival may also not be that difficult, assuming that their schedules all line-up.
