The San Francisco 49ers will have the opportunity to make a huge statement when they visit the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
The Eagles, of course, blew them out in last season’s NFC Championship Game, a game in which quarterback Brock Purdy tore the UCL in his throwing elbow in the first quarter.
Nick Bosa, the Niners’ star defensive end, said per David Lombardi that this contest will be different than that contest because while the Niners’ season ended with that January loss, the Eagles went on to lose in the Super Bowl, meaning both teams are seeking revenge.
Nick Bosa says this 49ers-Eagles rematch is a new game, entirely separate from what happened in January: “Neither team finished the job, so it’s not like they’re looking back and reminiscing on an NFC Championship win, either. I’m sure we were both sad at the end of the year.”

In the Super Bowl, Philly had a 10-point lead over Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, only to blow it and lose in the final seconds on a field goal by Harrison Butker.
San Francisco has an 8-3 record, and after a recent three-game losing streak, it looks like they have regained their mojo.
They will be well-rested after trouncing the Seattle Seahawks, 31-13, on Thanksgiving Day, while the Eagles had to struggle to come back from a 10-point deficit to defeat the Buffalo Bills in overtime on Sunday.
The one weakness the Eagles have that some have been talking about is their pass defense, which ranks near the bottom of the NFL in yards and touchdowns given up.
The Niners will look to take advantage of that deficiency by getting some strong performances from tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel.
Aiyuk, in particular, is having a sensational season with 881 yards and five touchdowns, and he is second in yards per reception at 19.6.
