The Philadelphia Eagles need everybody to be at their best right now.

Unfortunately, that won’t be the case for Monday Night Football’s showdown with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to HC Nick Sirianni, star CB Darius Slay won’t be able to take the field on Monday as he continues to nurse a knee injury (via NFL).

Slay isn’t expected to be out with a long-term issue and should be back at some point before the end of the regular season after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery.

He’s started every single game this season and has been on the field during almost every snap.

The team’s defense has regressed vastly in consecutive weeks, struggling to keep both the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys in check, and not having their best DB on the field won’t do a lot to help their cause.

The Seahawks have proven to be more than capable of putting points on the scoreboard, and with Jalen Hurts also not at 100%, getting into a shootout might not be in their best interests.

The Eagles are still the oddsmakers’ favorites to run away with the NFC East, and their remaining schedule is somewhat easier than the Dallas Cowboys after their clash vs. Seattle.

That’s why they can afford to be without one of their best players as they prepare for the playoffs, but it’ll take a collective effort to make up for his absence to secure that No. 1 seed.
