
Vijayawada: Minister for health Satya Kumar Yadav has announced that the Central government has released `567.40 crore for the health sector in Andhra Pradesh.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, the minister said the 15th Finance Commission had recommended a total grant of `2,600 crore for the health sector in Andhra Pradesh. He said the Centre released the fifth and final instalment of `567.40 crore on Monday, enabling the state to receive the entire sanctioned amount. He claimed this was a significant achievement, noting that in the past only a few states such as Tamil Nadu and Tripura had received their full health sector grants on time.
The minister said that during a review held on Monday on the release of the total grant, it was found that `2,033 crore had been released so far, of which `1,896 crore had been spent during the last 19 months of NDA rule in Andhra Pradesh. Accordingly, the State government had sent utilisation details to the Centre seeking the release of the remaining amount.
Following this, the Centre released the balance `567.40 crore, completing the total allocation. The minister expressed his happiness over the timely release of the remaining funds, stating that it would further strengthen the state’s health infrastructure.
