The Phoenix Suns had all the firepower they needed to be a contender out of the Western Conference, which is why adding Bradley Beal feels like a bit of an overkill.
Of course, on paper, every team featuring three guys capable of scoring 30+ a night should be a favorite to win the NBA championship, but real life doesn’t work the same way as video games.
Even in video games, we tend to get bored and start over when our teams are just too overpowered.
Likewise, Nick Wright isn’t sold on this heavy-shooting Phoenix Suns team, as he doesn’t believe Beal is the answer to what they needed after watching them vs. the Kawhi Leonard-less Los Angeles Clippers and Denver Nuggets.

Truth be told, it’s hard to argue with that statement.
The Suns were on the verge of getting over the top, and adding a $50 million contract to that mix may have only set them back.
Chris Paul’s presence had been one of the main reasons why the Suns had become a contender in the first place, and losing him for another scorer may not be the wisest decision.
Of course, Bradley Beal is a great player and a bonafide scorer in this league, but not all teams need more scoring, not even in today’s offensive-oriented NBA.
The Suns will have a lot of trouble rounding up their roster with limited cap space, and things will only get tougher as the years go by under the new CBA, so it better pay off now.
