USC men’s basketball player Bronny James collapsed during a practice session Monday afternoon and suffered cardiac arrest, according to several reports Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at USC’s Galen Center where the program’s medical staff was able to help James before taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit (ICU).

“… He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the James family spokesperson said Tuesday morning. “We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.”

According to a report by TMZ, the 911 call was made at 9:26 a.m.

James, a McDonald’s All-American from Sierra Canyon school and the eldest son of NBA LeBron James, is preparing for his freshman season with the Trojans.

It’s the second straight off-season a USC basketball player has suffered from cardiac arrest. 7-foot center Vince Iwuchukwu collapsed during an informal team workout in July of 2022. The five-star prospect had suffered sudden cardiac arrest and was hospitalized for a few days.

Iwuchukwu did end up making a recovery and played in 14 games in the latter part of the 2022-23 season.
