It’s the dawn of a new era for the Washington Commanders.
A new group led by Magic Johnson and Josh Harris has officially purchased the ever-struggling franchise, putting an end to Dan Snyder’s tenure in charge of the team.
That’s why HC Ron Rivera is reportedly ecstatic about what’s to come.
According to a report by Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, Rivera claims that the team can finally focus on football, as they had to deal with a lot of off-field stuff before that.
Ron Rivera said he’s “fired up” about the ownership change.
“A lot of it is the feeling that so many people are behind us. It was different; you were having to deal with stuff outside of football. Now it’s about football.”

Moreover, he feels like they finally have someone who’s got their back and to rely on.
The Commanders were one of the worst-managed franchises in all sports.
Never-ending reports of the poor condition of the facilities and stadium, investigations of toxic workplace culture, and whatnot made Snyder’s tenure as an owner one of the most controversial in league history.
Johnson has had plenty of success, and he knows one thing or two about maximizing the value of his assets, so you better believe he and his team are going to be quite aggressive in helping this franchise get over the hump once and for all.
Johnson didn’t rule out a potential rebrand and change of name in the foreseeable future, and truth be told, it might be for the best.
Whatever the case, the Commanders could fare a lot better this season, and this could be just the beginning of better and brighter days for a franchise that’s been through a lot lately.
