The Minnesota Twins have proven to be the best team in a very weak American League Central division.
At 69-63, they hold a seven-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians, who won the division last year by a landslide.
This year, it appears to be the Twins’ division for the taking.
There are 30 games remaining on the schedule for the Twins.
The team led the AL Central for much of the 2022 season before a September collapse took them out of postseason contention.
On the MLB podcast “Fair Territory,” Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic discussed the Twins and how they look set to make some noise in October this year.
Unanswered Ohtani questions, crazy AL West, NL MVP race and Twins’ postseason chances…

Rosenthal noted that the competition within the AL Central isn’t great, given that every other team sold at the trade deadline and currently sits below the .500 mark.
However, he believes they have a chance to finally go on a run.
More than likely, Minnesota will face off against one of the top three teams in the AL West.
The Seattle Mariners, Texas Rangers, and Houston Astros all would qualify for the postseason if it began today, which means it could be either one of those three ballclubs that the Twins are forced to deal with in the Wild Card series, should they hold on to win the AL Central.
Rosenthal notes how this Twins team is much better than previous Twins teams and predicted that this year’s squad will have a better showing, one that could potentially include their first postseason series win since the 2002 ALDS.
