The San Antonio Spurs are about to become relevant once again in the NBA, with the team bringing in rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama to be the new face of the franchise in the post-Tim Duncan era.

Even though it has been rough in San Antonio ever since Duncan decided to call it a career, the Spurs now have a chance to finally turn things around, as Wembanyama appears to be the real deal and perhaps the first superstar rookie since LeBron James in 2003.

Although Wembanyama has some incredibly high expectations to live up to, the 19-year-old is keeping a level head, as he’s been very humble ahead of his first NBA season.

When asked what he expects from his first season in the league, Wembanyama thinks that the Spurs making the NBA playoffs is realistic but also admits he’s not sure what to expect while playing on the NBA level for the first time, according to Michael C. Wright of NBA.com via Legion Hoops.

It seems as though Wembanyama is going with the right approach heading into his first year in the NBA, as he seems to be soaking up the knowledge like a sponge and is fully aware that it might not be an instant success right out of the gate like he was used to overseas.

The real question moving forward is whether Wembanyama’s skinny frame will be able to hold up over the course of an 82-game season, as some believe he’ll have to bulk up in order to withstand the physicality of the NBA level.
