The Memphis Grizzlies will be without their best player for a little more than a quarter of the season.
Ja Morant will have to serve a 25-game suspension for being involved in another gun-related incident, flashing a firearm on Instagram shortly after being reinstated for the very same violation of the league’s conduct policy.
And now that the schedule for the upcoming season has dropped, we finally know his potential return date.
According to Damichael Cole, Morant could be eligible to be on the floor as soon as December 19th when the Pelicans hit the road to face off vs. the New Orleans Pelicans.
Ja Morant’s first game he’s eligible to return will be Dec. 19 against the New Orleans Pelicans. The game will be in NOLA and nationally televised on TNT.

Assuming he’s healthy — which is a big ‘if’ — that would give him an opportunity to square up vs. Zion Williamson, who went No. 1 overall in his class and has often been compared to him.
Morant’s talents and impact on the game are undeniable.
He’s become one of the faces of the league and one of the most entertaining and flashiest players to watch.
His leadership has helped the Grizzlies go way ahead of schedule in their rebuild, becoming contenders almost right away.
As of now, it seems like the only thing standing in his way is his erratic behavior, as he’s been tangled up in several violence-related incidents.
The league and the fans hope that this suspension will be just what he needs to get his act together and focus on the main thing, as he’s just too good to mess his career up because of that.
