While not as popular in recent games, 4-3-3 is still a viable option for anyone who likes to use RW and LW attackers. This variation is the best for EA Sports FC 24, as it still provides the solid base with a CDM as well as providing plenty of options to get the ball quickly up the pitch.
As with all the formations on this list that contain a CDM, using one that has strong defensive and physical stats is key, so using the best players available can stop a huge number of attacks from this position.
5 4-4-2
The classic 4-4-2 is being used by many in the opening weeks of Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC 24 and it is a great all-round formation that can be customized in many ways. The formation doesn’t have a CDM, but the two central midfielders can still sit in front of the defense to cover. While not a position many players specialize in, using the best CM’s such as Jude Bellingham, who features on the EA Sports FC 24 cover, is vital to this formation.
The formation is solid without the ball but also presents lots of opportunities when building up attacks. It always offers outlets to keep the ball through the full-backs and wide players which can be useful when looking to slowly build up attacks, as well as when winning to control the clock.
4 4-1-2-1-2 (2) Narrow
While the series has changed its name from FIFA, another familiar formation remains one of the best options for support in attack and defense. The narrow variation of the 4-1-2-1-2 diamond is very hard to break through with essentially seven outfield players that can sit in and defend when required.

3 4-2-2-2

Using two players behind the strikers, allows them to link up easily for space around the edge of the box, as well as being in the best position to pick up loose balls.
The two defensive midfielders will make it very hard for opposition players to score through the middle, creating a block in front of the defense. Of the formations using two strikers, this is currently the most effective, allowing the pair to work together to create openings on their own with support of the other attacking midfielders.
2 4-3-2-1
Very similar to a 4-3-3, the 4-3-2-1 allows players to use one striker with 2 center forwards on either side. A number of the best attacking players in EA Sports FC 24 can play as either ST or CF’s such as Lionel Messi, making this a great formation to get three of the best players in the game into a team. Having three up-front also means there will always be an outlet to quickly get up the pitch when needed.
The three central midfielders can do the defensive job and again pack out the midfield stopping any forward progression from the opposition in the middle third. By setting up custom tactics to have the midfielders stay back in certain scenarios it can make it a very strong defensive formation.
1 4-2-3-1 Narrow
The best formation at the start of Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC 24 is the 4-2-3-1. It provides the perfect balance between attack and defense. The two defensive midfielders can sit and break up attacks while the three attacking midfielders will always provide an outlet to keep the ball.
While the formation only has one striker, the midfield can provide the support and with the number of players that are effective in these positions, it is easy to build a team full of quality. The formation is a very possession-heavy one, which is the early Meta in this year’s game.
Setting up with protection in front of the defense is key in Ultimate Team in EA Sports FC 24 and the best formations all provide plenty of cover which should avoid leaving you wide open when taking on opponents in the online competitive world.
