The Atlanta Braves are making roster moves.
On Tuesday, they announced that right-handed pitcher Michael Soroka was recalled from Triple-A, a move that saw reliever Ben Heller go the other way.
It turns out that Soroka will be taking the hill on Tuesday against the St. Louis Cardinals, per Braves insider Mark Bowman.

Soroka is probably good enough to be in an MLB rotation right now, but the Braves’ pitching depth and quality have caused him to be in Triple-A for most of the season.
In MLB, the righty has a 5.52 ERA in 29.1 innings of work, with a 1.47 WHIP and 23 strikeouts.
He has made 17 starts for Gwinnett, in what has been his first full year of good health after multiple Achilles issues.
In those 17 starts, Soroka has covered 87 innings and has a solid 3.41 ERA.
He also has 28 walks and 92 strikeouts at that level.
Because the Braves have Spencer Strider, Charlie Morton, Max Fried, and Bryce Elder (and soon Kyle Wright) making starts regularly, opportunities for Soroka at the MLB level have been limited.
However, he is a really talented pitcher with good (although not overpowering) stuff and impeccable command when he is right.
He is best remembered for posting a 2.68 ERA in 174.2 frames in 2019, the year of the “juiced” ball.
In August 2020, he ruptured his right Achilles tendon in his third start of the season, and required a lengthy rehab process (with several setbacks, including a complete re-tear in 2021) after that.
It’s good to see a good pitcher getting another chance at making an MLB start for a quality team.
