Philadelphia Phillies slugger Bryce Harper made history this week when he hit his 300th home run.
It’s a nice, high number that should be celebrated, particularly because the player is just 30 years old.
Theoretically, Harper is in the middle of the prime of his career and should still have several seasons of top-notch performance, making additional milestones like 400 and 500 homers a real possibility down the road.
For now, let’s focus on what he just achieved: 300 dingers.
It’s certainly a good number, one that just 11 other active hitters have been able to achieve, according to MLB on FOX.

Miguel Cabrera leads the active players ranking with 510 round-trippers, but he will retire after the season.
Nelson Cruz is second with 464, and he is also near the end of the line.
After that point, everybody has fewer than 400: Giancarlo Stanton (398), Mike Trout (368), Joey Votto (355), Evan Longoria (342), Paul Goldschmidt (337), Nolan Arenado (325), Freddie Freeman (317), Manny Machado (308), J.D. Martinez (307), and Harper.
With the way he is swinging the bat, Harper has a chance of surpassing Machado and Martinez this year, but it’s unlikely.
The Tommy John surgery sapped some of his power earlier in the season, but 10 of the 15 home runs he has this season have come in August.
He seems to be finally rounding into form and leaving his injury behind, which is great news for the Phillies.
With 300 home runs at age 30, two MVP awards, seven All-Star berths, and two Silver Slugger awards, Harper is basically already a Hall of Famer even if he announced his retirement today.
