General Statement of Job:
The Cashier Customer Support Specialist assists with accounting functions and provides administrative support to the Cashier’s Office staff.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides administrative, coordination, communication, organizational, analysis, research, and business services support and assistance to the Cashiers Office.
  2. Researches, investigates, and resolves discrepancies, questions and issues related to assigned tasks.
  3. Coordinates and facilitates tracking, communications, planning, and follow-up on duties, responsibilities, tasks, projects, and administrative matters with all department supervisors.
  4. Assists with preparing and tracking reports, target completion dates, and manages and monitors multiple projects,
  5. Coordinates projects/reports with other departments and divisions.
  6. Seeks to solve problems, addresses concerns, and plans ahead with great attention given to customer service, project quality, and exact detail.
  7. Assists in monitoring and updating departments websites.
  8. Records, classifies, and summarizes accounting transactions.
  9. Assembles documents for computer input, verifying accuracy of itemized charges, account numbers, and total costs.
  10. Assists with running and monitoring UC4 jobs for the Cashiers Office department and seeks Information Technology intervention as needed.
  11. Research and prepare reconciliation of approvals for check and ACH refunds.
  12. Research and analyze entry of payments and adjustments associated with student accounts in colleges delinquent account system.
  13. Reconciles accounts and assists in the compilation of reports.
  14. Applies working knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies.
  15. Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble format data and/or reports.
  16. Compiles and ensures the accuracy of the cashier daily reports prior to submitting to the Accounting Specialist in charge of preparing the daily journal entry.
  17. Assists the call center staff with questions.
  18. Performs end of day verification of cashiers; maintains the change fund.
  19. Conducts surprise cash counts.
  20. Prepares cashier management reports, charged with task of learning the TouchNet bill payment module to set up each terms installment plans.
  21. Assists with tuition table/system upgrade testing and special projects as assigned.
  22. Assists in testing the annual 1098Ts and analyzing data to ensure accuracy.
  23. Responsible and accountable for all tasks and responsibilities assigned.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting or related field required.
  2. At least two (2) years of related experience required.
  3. Experience in a higher education institution, preferred.

  1. Security Sensitive position: All applicants are subject to a criminal background check under South Texas College policy.
  2. In addition, subject to federal background check.
  3. Must have or qualify for a valid Texas drivers license and proof of liability insurance.
