The Cleveland Cavaliers were hoping to begin the preseason with a fully healthy roster.

Unfortunately, that will not be the case after an injury to all-star center Jarrett Allen.

Allen started 68 games last season and averaged 14.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks.

Allen is a big part of what the Cavs do defensively as their main rim protector.

But they are going to have to find someone else for that job over the next few weeks.

According to the Cavaliers, Allen suffered a left ankle bone bruise in practice.

He will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

This is not the news the Cavs wanted to hear.

Losing any player to an injury in practice is never ideal.

Luckily, Allen should be back in time for the start of the regular season.

The Cavs are looking to build off their successful 2022 season when they finished fourth in the conference with a 51-31 record.

Donovan Mitchell was fantastic in his first year with the team, averaging a career-high 28.3 points per game.

But this team still has a lot to accomplish and they want to get further than the first round of the playoffs.

Losing to the New York Knicks in Round 1 put a damper on their season.

Even with teams like the Bucks and Celtics getting better, the Cavs still have a chance to compete.

They just need to stay healthy and have a few players take their game up a notch.
