With Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season officially in the books, the pressure is already on for a few quarterbacks in the league who play for teams with Super Bowl aspirations.
Even though Week 1 of the season is always a feeling-out process for every team in the NFL, teams can bounce back even from the most devastating of losses and go on to have successful seasons.
Despite that being the case, the pressure will still be on for some in Week 2, which is what Chris Broussard of FOX Sports pointed out on “First Things First” recently, with Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills sitting at the top of the list.
Josh Allen landed No. 1 on @Chris_Broussard‘s Under Duress list! “Josh, play smarter. Don’t always go for the home run. If you win this week & play well people will forget about Week 1. I believe in you!”
BUD List:
1. Josh Allen
2. Zach Wilson
3. Daniel Jones pic.twitter.com/KHQSjYYasv— First Things First (@FTFonFS1) September 14, 2023
Allen is coming off a three-interception performance against the New York Jets in which he wasn’t able to get much of anything going against New York’s defense, which resulted in a loss on the road for the Bills to start the season.
After seeing superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers go down with what turned out to be a season-ending injury, Zach Wilson was given the nod once again for the Jets.
Even though the Jets were able to come out on top against the Bills, Wilson didn’t exactly invoke confidence with his performance, and if he can’t turn things around in Week 2, the Jets will start looking for another option at quarterback.
Along with Allen, Daniel Jones of the New York Giants was utterly embarrassed in Week 1 at MetLife Stadium, as he failed to put any points on the board for his team.
The Giants ended up getting crushed by the division-rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, which has led to some questions about whether New York can put it together during the 2023 campaign, especially on offense.
