The Denver Nuggets are officially the reigning NBA champions, which obviously means they’re the biggest talking point in sports circles right now.

Unsurprisingly, that also means it was a matter of time before someone took uncalled-for shots at them or tried to take them down or demean what they did this season.

True to form, the first to publicly take shots at them was none other than controversial pundit Chris “Mad Dog” Russo, who once again seemed to infuriate First Take colleague JJ Redick.

Russo started his statement by guaranteeing that the 1986 Boston Celtics would’ve swept this Nuggets team, which is far from a surprise, given that he’s constantly talked and raved about that Celtics team every time he’s been on set.

He later uplifted Nikola Jokic by stating that he’s a future Hall of Famer and saying that he could finish his career as a top-3 offensive center, adding that he’s already on the same level as Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon.

Russo thinks the Nuggets were a “nice” team, but not a great or all-time great championship team, even stating that they could’ve lost a couple of games they won.

The Nuggets went 16-4 in the playoffs and only dropped one game at home.

They swept the Western Conference Finals and were one bad quarter away from sweeping in the NBA Finals again, all while being the best team in the conference in the regular season.

That’s literally the definition of dominant and all-time great right there.
