Clemson is off to a fast start in the 2025 class. They added their first commitment earlier this week with Rivals250 running back Gideon Davidson announcing his decision to play for the Tigers and now they have their quarterback for the 2025 class in four-star Blake Hebert. The Lawrence (Mass.) Central Catholic star was at Clemson’s camp earlier this month where he picked up his offer and didn’t waste any time announcing his intentions to play for Dabo Swinney and his staff.
IN HIS OWN WORDS
“I had a good time there and learned a lot,” Hebert said. “I definitely took away some mechanical tips from the camp. They were just highlighting how I would fit into that scheme and also showing me stuff on what they do. They’ve been up there in the rankings so they’re obviously a great program.
“Coach Riley came by in the spring and saw me throw too,” he said. “He’s an awesome guy and an awesome coach.
“I felt pretty comfortable there,” said Hebert. “Being from the west coast, I’m not just used to the northeast feeling. I moved from Vancouver in 2020.”
RIVALS’ REACTION
Hebert has just one season as a starter under his belt but blew away the Clemson coaching staff when they saw him throw and they loved how he fit into the program once they got to know him. He has a big strong arm and shows off outstanding downfield accuracy on film. Hebert has a good feel for pressure in the pocket and does a nice job sliding to evade oncoming defenders. He is a good athlete at the position and has no problem taking off and running for big gain on option plays. Hebert has solid mechanics and footwork but he two seasons of high school football left so there is time to refine his delivery. There are a lot of similarities between Hebert and former TCU quarterback and former Garrett Riley pupil Max Duggan. Hebert and Duggan are about the same size and have a similar style. They can push the ball down the field, are very tough, and are very good athletes at the position. It will be interesting to see how Hebert develops over the next few years and if he’ll follow a similar progression as Duggan.
