It’s Friday afternoon in New York City, where a Central Park fashion show is likely to break a world record next month.
With 3,000 tickets already sold, the Dreamland Fashion Week show is slated to set a new Guinness World Record for the “largest attendance at a fashion show.” One person’s win is another person’s (me) nightmare.
Here’s what else is happening:
- Big hospitals, like Mount Sinai here in New York, are investing a lot of money into AI technology. But those advancements are making some health care providers nervous about the quality of care patients will receive.
- An apartment building is going up near the site of the World Trade Center, and while a portion of affordable housing will be set aside for those directly affected by 9/11, some feel it’s a bit of a strange offer to live next to the site of your trauma.
- If there was one topic where I thought New Yorkers could find common ground, it’s that sirens are annoying. But I was wrong. The fight to try and change siren sounds is actually a big battle.
- New Jersey is the only state barred from Taco Bell’s “Taco Tuesday” promotion, and some believe it’s on purpose as the Garden State is also the only one to still hold a trademark on the phrase.
- With just a few weeks until the start of a new school year in the city, Schools Chancellor David Banks is warning of a looming bus driver strike.
- Now called X, Elon Musk’s social media company formerly known as Twitter doesn’t need a whole bunch of Twitter-related items, including signs featuring their old bird mascot. Much of this stash will be auctioned off next month.
- The MTA is trying to stop sneaky commuters who got their hands on a key to subway station emergency gates and started selling copies.
- And finally, try again:
