The Philadelphia 76ers are a team in the NBA that always gets a lot of buzz for being a potential title contender but can never seem to live up to expectations when the NBA playoffs roll around, as every year, they seem to come up short.

Last season was no different, with the 76ers dominating the competition throughout the regular season with superstar center Joel Embiid having the best year of his career in the league, only to lose to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the second round.

It was another devastating blow for the storied franchise, with many questions about the immediate future heading into the NBA offseason.

It wasn’t long before the team decided on head coach Doc Rivers, who was let go quickly, and then the team went after and hired Nick Nurse as his successor, while James Harden chose to opt into the last year of his deal and asked to be traded.

Along with needed changes, the 76ers are dealing with drama again and an uncertain future in terms of being able to contend with the best of the best in the Eastern Conference.

With the future looking bleak in Philadelphia, former NBA star Gilbert Arenas believes the team missed its championship window.

Although Arenas has some wild theories on many NBA topics, he’s right on the money with this one, as the 76ers’ best chance to contend was when Jimmy Butler was playing alongside Embiid and Ben Simmons.

Once Butler was traded to the Miami Heat, it was arguably over for this team in terms of contending, as they haven’t been able to get that edge back, even with Harden in town, so this team could be closer to rebuilding than contending moving forward.
