Over 30 years after the movie became a holiday classic, two Home Alone cast reunite at Macualay Cuklin’s recent walk of fame ceremony. The 1990 Christmas comedy saw Culkin star as Kevin McCallister, a young boy inadvertently left by his family while they go on a vacation to Paris, only to have to contend with two home invaders, played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. Though scoring mixed reviews from critics, the movie was a major box office hit, becoming the highest-grossing comedy of all-time before being surpassed by 2011’s The Hangover Part II.

As shared by E! News, Culkin was recently awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, with various celebrities in attendance, including his fiancée and fellow former child star Brenda Song, as well as his Home Alone co-star Catherine O’Hara.

The post, as seen above, shows O’Hara, who played Kevin’s mother Kate in the movie, having a heartwarming reunion with Culkin on the stage of the ceremony. The Emmy winner would subsequently give a moving speech for Culkin celebrating the actor’s legacy.

Culkin’s role as Kevin launched his career in a major way. Even though he had featured in a number of movies prior to playing the role of Kevin, starring in the original Equalizer show and Alan J. Pakula’s romantic comedy See You In The Morning, Home Alone was the true launching pad for his acting career. In addition to garnering a Golden Globe nomination for his performance, he would star in its immediate sequel and see further acclaim for the 1991 coming-of-age rom-com My Girl.

Why Macaulay Culkin Didn’t Star In Home Alone 3

Home Alone 3 would have been a lot more successful if Macaulay Culkin had returned, but the then-teenaged actor passed on the pitch for the sequel.

Since he moved on from the Home Alone franchise, Culkin went on to star in other movies, including the live-action/animated fantasy adventure The Pagemaster and Donald Petrie’s adaptation of Richie Rich, after which he largely stepped away from acting. Following roles in more independent productions and focusing on his music career, Culkin would slowly take on more mainstream roles in the likes of The Jim Gaffigan Show, in which he starred as a fictionalized version of himself, and American Horror Story season 10, subtitled Double Feature.

In regard to the other Home Alone cast members, O’Hara went on to star in several other movies, including Best in Show and Surviving Christmas, and was seen more recently in Schitt’s Creek and Netflix’s Pain Hustlers. Pecsci, already an Oscar nominee come his appearance in the movie, would largely return to more dramatic fare with the likes of Casino and The Irishman, while also showing off his comedic penchant in the Lethal Weapon franchise. Though the cast have all gone in varying directions since the original movie, it’s still heartwarming to see O’Hara and Culkin be able to come together over 30 years after Home Alone first released for a meaningful moment.
