How to Unlock Every Brutality

In addition to the classic Fatality, you can perform a special finishing move called a “Brutality” in Mortal Kombat 1 to brutally take down your opponent. But these moves have specific button inputs that must be unlocked. Every character and Kameo fighter in the game has multiple Brutalities they can unleash at the end of any match. However, these are far harder to perform since they are done during a fight rather than when it’s already over.

Brutalities are character-specific and are usually tied to special moves, attack combo strings, or throws built into an individual fighter or Kameo. Similar to Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1, all these moves demand you to input a special sequence while using one specific attack. Every character in the game, including the hidden fighter Havik, has a Brutality called “The Klassic,” which is done by landing Down + Back Punch as the final attack.

How To Get Every Brutality In Mortal Kombat 1

Mortal Kombat 1 will not tell you a character or Kameo’s Brutalities at first, instead asking you to progress your Mastery Level with different fighters to unlock the right button inputs. This does not prevent you from performing Brutalities; it just makes their sequence missing from a character’s Move List. Main roster fighters can reach Level 35 as of this time of writing, while Kameos can get to Level 15.

Many of the character Mastery Level rewards are the same, with Brutalities for main roster fighters being unlocked at Levels 3, 5, 7, 10, and 15. Kameo Brutalities seem to be at Levels 2 and 11.

Another way to unlock Brutalities is from The Shrine, an option from the “Extras” section of the Main Menu that gives random rewards in exchange for Coins. Among standard character gear such as Palettes or Skins, a main roster fighter or Kameo’s unique finishers could be received from an arbitrary donation. You can donate 1,000 Coins to receive an item, a currency best earned in the single-player Invasions mode.

Character Mastery Levels will likely apply to characters and Kameos coming as DLC through Mortal Kombat 1‘s Kombat Pack in the future. Online matches and Invasions are the best ways to upgrade your character and Kameo simultaneously to get their Brutalities. Local Versus offline matches also increase this score but by a tiny amount compared to the other online-focused systems.

Every Brutality in Mortal Kombat 1 shares similarities, giving you a good idea of how to unlock them all as you progress with your favorite fighters in bloody battles.
