How (& Where) to Farm Ability Points

Quick Links

Ability Points, also known simply as AP, in Final Fantasy 16 will allow players to unlock all abilities in the game. However, for those looking to unlock and master every single one, they will need over 100,000 Ability Points. Therefore, knowing where to farm them quickly and efficiently can be vital.

Though a decent amount of these will be accrued through normal gameplay, it’s worth farming some in areas where it’s most convenient. There are a couple of different methods of earning Ability Points, but one of the easiest ways to yield considerable results is through defeating certain enemies and utilizing the Arete Stone to Clive’s advantage.

Where To Find Bluebirds

Bluebirds are among the few lower-level enemies that can be killed for a whopping 40 Ability Points. This is considerably more than many other similar low-level enemy types that typically reward less than 10 Ability Points per kill. They’re the best option to track and hunt early on.

These Bluebirds are generally going to be found in a group of wild Chocobos in Final Fantasy 16 and closely resemble the colors of peacocks, making them easy to spot with their blue and green plumage. These Bluebirds can be found in the Royal Meadows on the path to Northreach and in a few other locations. To respawn them, simply fast-travel using the nearby Obelisks.

Later in the game, when the Hyena‘s location has been unlocked, these enemies can provide double the amount of Ability Points per kill.

Replay Missions For Ability Points

The Arete Stone is unlocked during the Hide, Hideaway story quest in Final Fantasy 16. After that, continue through a few more story quests, eventually unlocking The Free Cities of Kanver dungeon mission. Use the Arete Stone’s Stage Replay feature to repeat this stage and farm AP.

However, when replaying, don’t progress all the way through. Simply beat the first three waves of enemies, leave, and repeat. Though tedious, it is a solid way to gain some Ability Points. However, note that when accruing Ability Points through stage replay, the net amount of Ability Points will be lowered.

Though there are Ability Points to be earned throughout the game, these are two of the methods that players can utilize to help Clive stack up and unlock all Abilities in Final Fantasy 16 so that he may master them. The Bluebirds method is recommended early on but can be utilized anytime.

The Arete Stone method will have to come later for players who choose to use it as they will have to wait until it is available, but it is an optional method for those looking to grind some time into AP farming. Regardless of how players of Final Fantasy 16 opt to earn their APs, it will take considerable time to accrue enough to unlock everything.
