In Search of a New Coach: Will Ferrell Meets with Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt at LAFC Match

Actor and LAFC co-owner Will Ferrell was seen with Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt during Saturday’s MLS season opener.

Fox Sports’ broadcast showed Ferrell, 56, chatting with his fellow stars in a suite at BMO stadium as his club battled with Western Conference rivals in the Seattle Sounders.

They were first featured when LAFC scored the opening goal right before halftime. Ten minutes into the second half, LAFC doubled their lead as the broadcast once again showed Ferrell and Hunt in the suites.

The ‘Coach Beard’ actor was sporting a formal outfit complete with a coat and bowtie. Shortly after the game concluded, Sudeikis and Hunt arrived at the 2024 SAG Awards in Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall.

Saturday was not the first time the iconic pair appeared in BMO Stadium to watch LAFC in action. In September, they were in attendance as the Hollywood-based team hosted Lionel Messi and Inter Miami. The visitors took the game, 3-1, with goals from Facundo Farias, Jordi Alba and Leo Campana.

LAFC looks to build off strong performances in their last two campaigns. After winning the MLS Cup in 2022, they finished last season with a 14-10-10 record before emerging out of the west. Unfortunately, LAFC lost to the Columbus Crew in the MLS Cup Final.

Their 2-1 win over Seattle on Saturday gave LAFC their seventh straight season opener win.

The home side rallied behind goals from Timothy Tillman and Mateusz Begusz before Seattle’s Pedro de la Vega scored a penalty kick in the 75th minute. The game was also goalkeeper Hugo Lloris’ debut for the Black and Gold after over a decade with Tottenham in the Premier league.

Both sides went blow for blow as Seattle attempted 16 shots with seven going on target. Meanwhile, LAFC shot 17 of their own and put seven on frame. Despite losing the clean sheet, Lloris made six saves in an otherwise successful introduction to Los Angeles.

LAFC will hit the road for their next game as they take on Real Salt Lake on March 2.
