Travis Kelce is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the NFL.

He has been a staple of the Kansas City Chiefs offense and is Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target.

However, his status for the regular season was recently called into question due to an injury sustained at practice.

Initial reporting indicated that his injury wasn’t severe, but there also was not a definite diagnosis.

Ian Rapoport has now reported that Kelce has a bone bruise, along with “significant swelling.”

Rapoport also made an important announcement, with this in mind, that Kelce’s status for the season opener is still unknown.

Kelce and the Chiefs’ medical staff have an important decision to make the day before this game.

While he’s a vital part of this offense, they will weigh the pros and cons of putting him back on the field.

The Chiefs are a league-wide favorite to make a deep postseason run this year.

If Kelce isn’t fully healthy for this first game, the Chiefs could sit him out, waiting until he is normal.

If he is brought back too early, there is a risk that Kelce gets more injured and misses more playing time as a result.

This will undoubtedly be a difficult decision for all parties involved, a situation to monitor for Chiefs fans.

When the Chiefs’ injury report comes out, all eyes will be watching, hoping not to see Kelce’s name on the list.

Mahomes has relied on his friend in big games.

If Kelce is out for this game, the Chiefs will go back to the drawing board for meaningful touches.
