Seems like Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan have ended their long-rumoured feud. Today, November 22, KJo took to social media to announce a new film starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead. The filmmaker’s Dharma Productions’ will be co-producing the yet untitled film along with Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. The upcoming project, that is set for release on August 15, 2025, is being directed by Sandeep Modi. The big announcement was made on Kartik Aaryan’s 33rd birthday.
Karan Johar Announces Film With Kartik Aaryan On His Birthday
Karan Johar shared a text post on Instagram that read, Dharma Productions & Balaji Telefilms Ltd. present A Dharma Productions film starring Kartik Aaryan Directed by Sandeep Modi Produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R. Kapoor. In cinemas 15th August, 2025 (sic).”
KJo captioned the post, “Kickstarting today with some special news on a special day!! Extremely thrilled to announce @dharmamovies & @balajimotionpictures coming together for a film helmed by the exceptionally talented @sandeipm. I find myself elated to also announce the supremely talented @kartikaaryan as our lead for this story that will unfold in cinemas on 15th August, 2025 (sic).”
Wishing Kartik on his birthday, KJo further wrote, “Kartik, happy birthday to you. May our collaboration only grow from strength to strength from hereon and never cease to create magic on the big screen. @ektarkapoor, being your friend is easily the best thing and now working with you will be no different (sic)!!!”
Ektaa Kapoor re-shared the post with the caption, “Lights, camera andâ€æsurprise! We are thrilled to announce a new story brewing that has found a home with Dharma Productions & Balaji Telefilms. Starring Kartik Aaryan and directed by Sandeep Modi, this yet to be titled film will be released on 15th August, 2025. Stay tuned! Kartik Aaryan Hinted On Patriotic Theme Of The Film
Kartik shared on social media, “An unforgettable chapter of our glorious Indian history full of valour and sacrifice is now going to be part of my life 🇮🇳

For those unaware, in 2021, Karan posted that they will recast Dostana 2 after announcing and shooting with Kartik for certain scenes. Karan had written that they would recast due to some ‘professional circumstances’. Rumours were abuzz that Karan took the decision due to some ‘unprofessional behaviour’ on sets by the main lead.
The announced cast also featured Kartik alongside Janvhi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya. It was being directed by Collin D’Cunha.
