Karen Gillan Wraps Filming On New Stephen King Adaptation With BTS TikTok

Karen Gillan wraps filming on the upcoming drama The Life of Chuck. Written and directed by horror specialist Mike Flanagan, the adaptation of Stephen King’s novella of the same name from his 2020 collection If It Bleeds tells the life story of the titular Chuck, a man suffering from a brain tumor. The story, which is told in a reverse order, begins with Chuck’s death and ends with his early years. In addition to Gillan, The Life of Chuck will star Tom Hiddleston and Mark Hamill.

Now, in a recent video uploaded to TikTok, Gillan, who has previously starred in blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Endgame, and Jumanji: The Next Level, confirmed that she had wrapped up filming for The Life Of Chuck. Check it out below:

In the video, Gillan holds up the back of her chair from set, indicating that her time shooting the forthcoming movie is done. She also expresses that she’s “Sad to go” but also “excited about what we made!”

Everything We Know About The Life Of Chuck

On one hand, Gillan’s video confirming she is done shooting The Life Of Chuck suggests that the production could be nearing completion. However, on the other hand, considering that the movie was only announced in May and filming reportedly began in Alabama in October after an interim SAG-AFTRA agreement, it is more plausible that Gillan is only taking on a fairly small role in the movie, and shooting isn’t complete just yet.

Regarding the release date for The Life Of Chuck, nothing is confirmed as of the time of writing. It is currently unclear what studio is handling the distribution for Flanagan’s forthcoming work, and since filming also only began last month, it is difficult to predict when The Life Of Chuck would be released. However, a late 2024 or early 2025 release date seems likely, assuming post-production moves quickly.

Along with the aforementioned Gillan, Hiddleston (Loki), and Hamill (Star Wars), other talented actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave), Jacob Tremblay (Good Boys), Harvey Guillén (Blue Beetle), Matthew Lillard (13 Ghosts), and Kate Siegel (Midnight Mass) are also expected to join the cast of The Life Of Chuck. It will be Flanagan’s first King adaptation since 2019’s Doctor Sleep, and it will reunite him with several actors he has worked with before, including on his most recent release, Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher. Intrigue is already high for this upcoming movie, and with actors starting to wrap, new details could emerge soon.
