Fast travel is a godsend, especially in survival games like The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. Because you’ll be retracing your steps or hauling materials back and forth from the same location all the time, it’s critical that you have fast travel unlocked, as walking can and will chew up a lot of your time. However, fast travel isn’t immediately available for you in Return of Moira; you’ll have to put in some effort to obtain it.
Fast travel in Return to Moria works in a somewhat peculiar way. You cannot immediately travel to specific points on the map. Instead, you must either unlock or create fast travel points using Map Stones. That’s also not to mention whether you need to repair the Ruined Map Stone first. In any case, while the entire process is a little confusing, it’s all broken down below.
How to Fast Travel in Return to Moira
In order to fast travel in Return to Moira, you need at least two working Map Stones. These act as waypoints that let you fast travel between the two locations. The first Map Stone you come across is in the tutorial camp, and it is a Ruined Map Stone, which means it needs to be repaired. You’ll stumble across your second Map Stone once you reach the Mines of Moria, however, it too will need to be repaired. In order to repair Ruined Map Stones, you need a Black Diamond.
Black Diamonds are used to repair and construct (Ruined) Map Stones. Typically, Black Diamonds can be found by looting Orkish Chests from the Mines of Moria, or if you’re lucky, having it drop from a horde attack. Additionally, Orcs in a small camp or town will almost always be near a chest – these almost always have Black Diamonds in them. However, they will require an Ork Key to open. To get that, break the central wooden structure at the heart of the camp or next to the chest and the key should fly it once it’s destroyed.
You can also build your own Map Stone for any camp you’ve restored, however, it will cost three Black Diamonds and 20 stone.
Alternatively, you can craft your own Map Stone at any camp you’ve restored to make it a fast travel point. Either way, fast travel is a bit of a slow grind and will take some time to set up in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moira.
