Job Summary

Oversees the daily receiving and distribution logistics of the University Bookstore. Supervises assigned staff and/or student assistants. Ensures accurate receipt of items. Creates, maintains, and implements policies, processes and standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
1. Oversees daily receiving and distribution logistics for all KSU bookstore locations
2. Ensures accuracy of all orders, that all required receiving and returns paperwork is completed and turned in to the bookstore accounting department, and all discrepancies are reported to the accurate departments
3. Creates schedules including freight, internal deliveries, special events and staff schedules
4. Coordinates with buyers to resolve order discrepancies, manages open purchase orders, and efficiently utilizes warehouse space
5. Leads warehouse logistics and planning for the Bookstore, and assists all of retail services (i.e., Markets, Marietta Postal, Online Fulfillment, Parcel Lockers, Central Receiving and Distribution as needed)
6. Reviews, updates and/or creates policies, processes, and standard operating procedures
7. Manages event setup and breakdown as needed for special events and “pop-up” shops
8. Oversees fleet vehicle and warehouse machinery maintenance
9. Assists in preparing merchandise for retail locations including price verification, price and/or barcode tagging, POS scanning verification, size stickers or tags, merchandise display set-up and folding and/or hanging merchandise as needed
10. Works in conjunction with the bookstore accounting department and others to reconcile invoices with receiving paperwork
11. Creates and receives transfers, pulling merchandise for transfers, ensuring count accuracy and delivery of all merchandise between Bookstore location
12. Responsible for the hiring, training, and performance management of assigned staff and/or student assistants
13. Establishes daily routines for a clean, organized workspace and ensure a safe work environment
14. Responsible for warehouse overstock inventory accuracy, location and physical inventory counts

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
Current, valid, and unrestricted driver’s license

Required Experience
Three (3) years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Experience
Previous experience with warehouse logistics and distribution
Previous experience in higher education receiving and distribution

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES
Keeps abreast of warehousing, shipping and logistics news and trends in effort to minimize costs and maximize efficiencies
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
Able to utilize trucks, vans, forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, hand carts, and other carts

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
