NFL fans slam Gardner Minshew as Michael Pittman Jr. suffers brutal hit from Colts QB’s throw

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Gardner Minshew and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. were having a spectacular first half during the Week 15 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday. The duo had combined for four catches and 78 yards midway through the second quarter, but their sensational start was cut short by a scary injury.

During a 2nd-and-8 play, Pittman, who was running a crossing route across the field, went airborne to haul in a slightly misplaced pass from Minshew. The wide receiver caught the ball but immediately took a huge hit to the head from Steelers defensive back Damontae Kazee.

The young wide receiver stayed on the floor after the hit as the Colts’ medical personnel rushed onto the field. Watch the scary moment below:

While Kazee was flagged for unnecessary roughness and ejected from the game for the hit, fans on social media claimed that Minshew was responsible for Pittman’s unfortunate injury.

Some suggested that the quarterback put the young wide receiver in harm’s way with a poor pass. Here are some of the comments:

“I’m all good.”

The Colts will hope that the wide receiver will clear the NFL concussion protocol and join the team on the trip to Georgia for their Week 16 clash against the Atlanta Falcons.

Gardner Minshew and the Colts did not miss a beat after Michael Pittman Jr.’s exit from the game against the Steelers. The quarterback continued to shred Pittsburgh’s defense, ending the game with 215 passing yards and three touchdowns.

The Colts improved to 8-6 and are only half a game behind the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC South.

They hold the seventh seed in the AFC playoff. Depending on results elsewhere, the Colts can climb as high as second in the AFC standings. However, their 0-2 record against the Jaguars this season could prove detrimental in their quest for the division title.

Regardless, Minshew and the Colts will hope to finish the season strong and cement their spot in the playoffs.
