Player agent Jeff Jackson joins Oilers as CEO of hockey operations

Player agent and former NHLer Jeff Jackson has been named the new CEO of hockey operations for the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced Thursday.

According to a team release, Jackson will report directly to owner Daryl Katz and serve as an alternate governor on the NHL Board of Governors. In his role, Jackson will oversee the Oilers’ NHL, AHL and WHL hockey operations.

Ken Holland, Oilers president of hockey operations and general manager, will report to Jackson. Paul Coffey, who has been with the Oilers as a special advisor to Katz, will also assist Jackson.

Jackson, 58, played 263 career games with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Quebec Nordiques, New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks. After his career was over, he practised law before joining the Maple Leafs front office as assistant general manager and director of player operations in 2006.

In 2010, he founded Wasserman Hockey, which grew to be a powerhouse in the industry. His most notable recent client is Connor McDavid. In the release, McDavid is quoted as saying he was looking forward to working with Wasserman player agent Judd Moldaver.

Jackson was also the agent for Alex DeBrincat and Aaron Ekblad, among others.
