Warning! This article contains spoilers for Predator Vol. 2 #3 A war is brewing between humanity and the Predator species. While the Yautja have better weapons, ships, and overall more advanced technology, humanity finally developed something that Predators don’t have, giving humans a major advantage in the many battles that are to come.
In the current continuity of the Predator franchise, fans have been following the ultimate Predator-killer named Theta as she travels the galaxy on a murderous mission to eradicate the Yautja species. Theta is tracking Predator movements on a planet-by-planet basis, searching for the Predator homeworld. However, it seems as though the movements she’s been tracking are heading towards Earth, meaning the Predators could be planning something much bigger than a hunting trip, but perhaps the Predators are launching a full-scale invasion. While the validity of that theory remains to be seen, it certainly looks that way. If a war between the humans and the Predators does come to pass, then humanity will at least be able to recover quickly from whatever devastating super-weapon a Predator throws at them, as the latest issue revealed that humans have a 3D printer that can give someone a robotic limb.
Predator Gives Humans the Ability to ‘Grow’ Robotic Limbs
In Predator Vol. 2 #3 by Ed Brisson and Netho Diaz, Theta saves a group of humans from a Predator hunting preserve planet, but she gets her arm sliced off by a Yautja in the process. While she makes it back on her ship alive as it flies away to safety, Theta is bleeding out fast. Thankfully, Theta has a device on her ship that’s something akin to a super-advanced 3D printer, and it goes to work on her missing arm, replacing the limb at incredible speed with a cybernetic appendage.
The main disadvantage humans have always had against the Predators is the alien’s advanced weaponry compared to humanity’s more primitive weapons. Predators have cloaking devices, plasma cannons, and wrist-bombs, not to mention the two-pronged claws on their fists and retractable spears slung over their backs. Plus, the Yautja culture is totally immersed in weapons combat, meaning they not only have better weapons than humans, they know how to use them better, too. So, while the logical thing for humans to do to combat the Predators’ more advanced weaponry is to develop stronger weapons of their own, that’s only addressing half the problem. The other half of the problem that’s directly addressed by this robotic limb 3D printing device is recovery.
No matter how strong humanity makes their weapons, the Predators will always have an advantage in that department–they are ancient planet-faring warriors, after all. Therefore, the fact that humans have made a device that can replace/repair missing limbs or injured body parts is instrumental in the potential war that is to come. And the best part? Predators don’t have this technology (at least, not that fans know of). Humans can quickly repair themselves after suffering injury from any Predator attack with a device that the Predators themselves don’t have access to, finally giving humans a major advantage against the Predator species.
