Raising Kanan Season 4 Renewed At Starz

Power Book III: Raising Kanan has been renewed for season 4 at Starz ahead of its season 3 premiere. A prequel series to Power, the spinoff follows the early life of Kanan Stark in the 1990s as he becomes more heavily involved in the criminal underworld. The show is one of three ongoing spinoffs in the franchise featuring stories of different characters from the original series.

Now, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that, ahead of Power Book III: Raising Kanan season 3, the series has been renewed for season 4. This confirms the upcoming season won’t end the Thomas family’s story. It also means plenty of unpredictable, dramatic story elements are still on their way.

Raising Kanan Is Helping Expand The Power Universe

Raising Kanan‘s early renewal underscores how successful the series has been in expanding the Power franchise beyond the first series. It’s also not the only one, with Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force also expanding the universe beyond the boundaries of the flagship series. While another series titled Power Book V: Influence was planned, its expected focus on Rashad Tate became partially explored in Ghost.

The prequel series getting renewed for season 4 means Kanan’s transformation into a high-profile crime boss is going to be explored very thoroughly. Season 3 is expected to focus on the aftermath of the Mob’s attack on the Thomas family, likely setting the stage for the young man’s rise in the criminal world. His relationship with his mother, Raq, is also expected to shift because of what happened at the end of season 2.

While multiple Power spinoffs are ongoing, Raising Kanan stands out for being the only prequel series exploring a key character’s origin story. Its early renewal also indicates Starz has faith in the franchise’s ongoing popularity. With plenty of backstory left to explore, it seems the spinoff will continue into the foreseeable future.
