University, the Illini Union draws together all members of the University with approximately 16,000 visits of students, faculty, staff,

Job Summary Under supervision of the Illini Union Retail Services
Coordinator, is to perform duties ultimately providing retailing services to the general public, students, faculty, and staff within the
Quad Shop.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises student employees at the Illini Union Quad
    Shop.
  • Sells candy, ice cream and other merchandise available at the Illini Union Quad Shop.
  • Receives goods into the POS
    system and stocks store shelves to maximize sales, ensure good product rotation and proper entry into stores point of sales system.
  • Assists the Retail Services Manager with product selection.
  • Maintains daily records
  • Issues change orders for various
    departments in the Illini Union, counting and verifying safe counts daily before and after change orders.
  • Answers telephone, giving
    information requested and relaying messages. Contacts building maintenance personnel and Building (Operations) Supervisor when needed.
  • Answers questions at the Illini Union Quad Shop as customer inquiries are made. Provides information necessary to communicate store
    operations to fellow employees and the Retail Services Manager.
  • Maintenance of change levels in personal safe and store Master safe
    to ensure good store operation.
  • Teaches and trains student employees regard basic food safety, cleanliness, and operational
    procedures within the Quad Shop. Perform other duties as assigned; such as inventory.

Additional Physical
Demands
Some lifting of beverages, candy boxes and other heavy items will be expected. There may be long periods of standing
required and one must be physically able to endure such. Enforcement and explanation of departmental policies are probably the more
difficult aspects of this position. One must be able to deal tactfully, but firmly with such matters.

Minimum
Qualifications

1. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the following categories: A. College
coursework in business administration, retail management, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its
proportional equivalent:

  • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
  • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours)
    equals eighteen months (18 months)
  • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester
    hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)

B. Work experience assisting in the management of retail service
operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the Illini Union, campus and local community
    is necessary to provide accurate answers to requests of customers.
  • Accuracy in handling money and making cash reports is
    vital.
  • A positive attitude toward public and inter-employee relations and patience with such is necessary.
  • Ability to
    handle a variety of tasks that occur throughout a given shift and to set priorities related to those tasks.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3588 – Retail Services Supervisor position,
appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/16/2024. This is a bargained position and as such, the
salary is driven by the collective bargaining agreement. The entry-level hourly rate for the Retail Services Supervisor classification is
$19.71/hour. Work for this position will be expected to work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus on a full-time basis
per the University’s Workplace Flexibility policy. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.

Typical
work schedule for this position is Wednesdays-Sundays (7:30AM -3:30PM).
