Manages and directs the day to day operations of a research center/institute or medium sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Serves as administrative director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives (OSI). Provides administrative product information and clinical data regarding business and operational activities for OSI; Communicates and organizes behavioral health and medical services with other senior administrative staff members.
  • Provides leadership, supervision, direction, communication, organization, and monitoring to various staff involved in the provision of mental and health care services. Coordinates with medical director(s) of behavioral health and/or medical services, facilitates teamwork and manages organizational subordinates to achieve institutional goals, both clinical and fiscal.
  • Serves as liaison between various internal/external partners & healthcare staff such that OSI needs are served and supported. Ensures work tools are implemented, correctly utilized, and maximized to ensure effective patient outcomes or processes.
  • Supports utilization review and clinical management by reviewing clinical policy and activity. Continuously monitor performance to ensure clinical standards are met, reviews and facilitates corrective action plans, and manages medical grievances. Ensures effective quality management of behavioral/medical healthcare services.
  • Works with administrators to facilitate cooperation and consistency in the provision of mental health services, medical services, risk management and monitoring of policy. Attends and contributes in teleconferences, conferences or video conferences. Communicates and coordinates with other agencies to facilitate continuity of care for patients.
  • Organizes hospital meetings and teleconferences. Communicates with OSI team members to monitor the equitable management of staff and policies in the system. Coordinates with the Medical Director of Behavioral Health on program, treatment and financial planning.
  • Coordinates with finance, attends finance meetings for senior administration as needed, reports on fiscal performance, monitors spending, controls spending for fiscally and clinically feasibility, manages budget according to fiscal and clinical guidelines.
  • Establishes an environment and culture that promotes respect, teamwork, and ingenuity in the workplace and functions according to institutional guidelines. Reinforces TTUHSC’s Values Based Culture in regular performance coaching, employee relations issues, and daily operations, and ensures consistent accountability standards throughout the organization.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred; Six years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education beyond Bachelor’s may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred in Business Administration, Health Care Management or a related field of study.
  • Prior experience working in state or governmental agencies, behavioral health setting, and/or health care systems.
