Shaq Reveals His Interest In Owning An NBA Team

Shaquille O'Neal attends the Grown Ups 2

With the success of all the new professional sports teams in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sin City has officially become a sports town and not just for being able to gamble on sports like it had become famous for since it was built.

The Vegas Golden Knights have proven that a hockey team can flourish in the desert as they are coming off their first Stanley Cup title, and the Las Vegas Aces are already on their way to winning a second title of their own in Sin City.

With these two teams already proving to be successful and exciting to watch year in and year out, the Oakland Athletics are the next team to try their luck in Las Vegas, which has led to speculation that the city will inevitably have an NBA basketball team as well.

The Aces are already successful, and men’s basketball gets played in Las Vegas every year with the NBA Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Los Angeles Lakers playing preseason games at T-Mobile Arena.

With it only being a matter of time before the NBA announces an expansion team in Las Vegas, investors are lining up to try and buy a stake in a team when the time comes, with LeBron James claiming he wants a team in the city and now Shaquille O’Neal wanting to lead an ownership group, according to Arash Markazi of The Messenger.

“I would like to have my own group,” O’Neal told The Messenger.

This is an interesting development, to say the least, as O’Neal is one of the most successful retired NBA players, and James is already sporting a net worth of over a billion dollars, and he hasn’t even finished his playing career yet.

If or at this point when the NBA announces a team is coming to Las Vegas, it’ll be interesting to see the bidding war for ownership and who might express interest in getting involved in buying a team.
