Sunny Deol Breaks Down After This Statement Of Rajkumar Santoshi About His Bollywood Journey

Sunny Deol‘s Bollywood career has seen various ups and down. But, it would not be wrong to call this year as one of the highest highs for the actor after Gadar 2’s massive success. However, as Sunny Deol reaps well-earned fruits of his incessant hard work, the film industry hasn’t always been very kind to him. The actor has talked about how previously, even after Gadar’s excellent business, he spent years without meaningful work opportunities.

Rajkumar Santoshi Spoke About Lack Of Industry’s Injustice To Sunny Deol

During a masterclass at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, Sunny Deol became emotional as he reflected on his movie career. Speaking at IFFI 2023, Sunny shared insights into his journey and the challenges he faced, particularly after the success of Gadar. Alongside him were directors Anil Sharma, Rajkumar Santoshi, and Rahul Rawail.

When Rahul inquired about Sunny Deol’s Bollywood trajectory, which commenced with Betaab in 1983, the actor expressed gratitude, saying, “I have been really very lucky. I just get too emotional, that’s my problem.”

Sunny acknowledged his good fortune in working with Rahul, who directed him in three memorable films. Despite facing struggles after the massive success of Gadar, Sunny persevered through a 20-year gap without significant opportunities. He emphasized his commitment to moving forward and his initial aspiration to be an actor rather than a star.

Sunny Deol Broke Down In Tears

He said, “I was very fortunate. I started with Rahul. He gave me three beautiful films. Some worked, some didn’t. But till today, people remember those films. I am standing here because of my films. After Gadar, which was a massive hit, my struggle period had started because subjects or scripts were not offered to me and things were not happening.” he said.

Even though I did some films in between, there was a gap of 20 years. But I did not give up. I was always moving forward. I joined films because I wanted to become an actor, not a star. I had seen the films of my father and I too wanted to do films of that variety,” the actor said.

Rajkumar Santoshi chimed in, stating, “I believe that the industry has not done justice to Sunny’s talent. But God has done justice.” This remark brought Sunny Deol to tears.
