Swifties can always count on Taylor Swift to keep the surprises coming. Following the immense box office success of her concert tour film, ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,’ the artist took to her Instagram account to announce the release of the extended version on digital.

“Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home! Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film including “Wildest Dreams,” “The Archer” and “Long Live” will be available to rent on demand in the US, Canada & additional countries to be announced soon starting on … you guessed it, December 13.”

The original version of the movie earned a record-breaking $26 million in presales alone, and much like the success of her sold out tour, ‘The Eras Tour’ opened to $96 million domestically and $128 million worldwide.

Filmed at Sofi Stadium during Swift’s shows in Los Angeles, the concert film captured the artist’s performance in great detail, down to the incredible stage design, intricate production, and stunning costumes. The movie was released due to Swift’s concern for fans unable to acquire tickets to her concert – whether due to availability or pricing. The movie serves as an alternate way for fans to see her concert, complete with exclusive merchandise such as popcorn buckets and souvenir cups from theaters like AMC and Cinemark.

The extended version of ‘Taylor Swift: The Era Tour’ is set to debut on the artist’s birthday – December 13, exclusively on digital platforms such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple, YouTube, Google TV, and Vudu for $19.89 (Taylor’s birth year and the title of her Grammy Award-winning album)

The extended version will be available in the United State and Canada, with additional countries to be announced soon.

The original version of the concert film has a run time of 2 hours 48 minutes, which is a shorter duration than Swift’s concert. For runtime purposes, a few songs from the tour did not make it onto the theatrical version. However, the extended version will include three songs that were not initially included: ‘Wildest Dreams’ from the album ‘1989’, ‘The Archer’ from the album ‘Lover’, and ‘Long Live’ from the album ‘Speak Now.’

This leaves a couple songs from her tour that did not make it into either version of the film, such as “Cardigan” and “No Body, No Crime”.

When Will ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour’ Arrive On Streaming?

While Swifties will have the opportunity to catch the theatrical version of the movie in theaters until January 2024, there’s no word on whether the theatrical version or extended will be available for streaming, aside from it being available to rent On Demand.

The 2020 documentary ‘Miss Americana’ streamed on Netflix, but there’s no telling whether the singer will stream her concert film on the platform. If you want to experience ‘Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,’ we suggest heading to a theater near you or rent it on digital when it debuts on December 13th.
