Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage celebrates the end of the actors’ strike despite the continued delay of season 7. After 118 days, the SAG-AFTRA protest is finally over, with the organization reaching a tentative deal with studios regarding fair compensation, among other things. This means that work can finally resume on most TV and movie projects in Hollywood, including Young Sheldon, which has been significantly impacted by the strike.

The Young Sheldon‘s writers’ room has been back to work for quite a while now. This means that scripts may likely be ready to go into production now that the SAG-AFTRA strike is also over. That being said, it’s also worth noting that with the upcoming holidays, studios and networks may be more strategic about when filming may restart for their pending projects. For context, CBS has remained mum on the tentative schedule for Young Sheldon, unlike other shows that are reportedly already in the process of getting back to their respective sets.

Assuming, however, that The Big Bang Theory prequel gets back to work sooner rather than later, fans may be looking at Young Sheldon season 7 debuting sometime in midseason. Depending on how much work they are able to get in amid the holidays, new episodes may be available as early as January. Otherwise, CBS may opt to push it to March to give the cast and crew enough time in production. The great thing is that Young Sheldon is a grounded show, meaning it doesn’t have rigorous post-production, cutting off the wait time for outings to be ready.

Unfortunately, the delays mean that Young Sheldon will likely have a significantly shorter season 7. Instead of having at least 20+ episodes, CBS may be looking at just a 10-13 count because of the limited time frame it has. This is particularly concerning because there are currently talks about the spin-off ending in its upcoming year.
