Northwestern offered three-star defensive back Terrion Hicks during the summer of last year and their interest in the Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass star never wavered.
During his official visit with the Wildcats this past weekend, Hicks made it official, giving Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald his verbal pledge while on campus.
His latest visit to Evanston marked the fourth time Hicks had been on campus and added a memory he’ll never forget.

ON HIS NORTHWESTERN COMMITMENT:
“The weekend was really eye-opening and getting to talk to the players was really what helped me make my decision along with being around the other recruits on the official visit. I had told Coach Fitz and he was really hype about it.”
“I really just like how everyone was together. Most of the people on their team aren’t from the same state and don’t know each other, but are really welcoming. My host (Braden Turner) and one of their quarterbacks there were really pressing to get to know me and see what type of player I was and it showed I really could fit in with them.”
“Coach (Ryan) Smith originally offered me, now he’s with the Arizona Cardinals. They called me right when he was leaving and told me my offer was still on the table, which I really appreciated. Getting to know Coach (LaMarcus) Hicks and Coach (David) Braun a little more showed me they were still high on me and still wanted me to come play for them. That really helped my decision also.”
“They always mentioned that being able to play both corner and safety is good and the coaches say I look like I’m able to play both positions. I also told them that I would be playing a little more safety this year and that helped them figure out where I would fit in with their defense.”
“I wasn’t planning to commit before I went up there, but as the weekend progressed and talking to the coaches and players, I knew it was the right fit for me.”
