Houston made a loud statement on the recruiting trail on Friday evening. Rivals250 four-star safety Maurice Williams announced that he is flipping his commitment from LSU to the Cougars, providing head coach Dana Holgorsen with a major recruiting win.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation for the time and effort that the LSU coaching staff and admissions team have spent recruiting me,” Williams said in a note that he posted on Twitter. “I have the upmost respect for the university and the program, but I have come to the conclusion that it is in my best interest to stay home and play at the University of Houston.”
Williams had been committed to LSU for just over a year, announcing his pledge last June. He initially chose Brian Kelly and the Tigers over several national offers, including Auburn, Michigan, Oregon, and Texas A&M. Rivals breaks down the commitment.
