With the 2023 MLB All-Star Game already in the rearview mirror, teams are getting ready to return to play on Friday.

However, Colorado Rockies fans are still savoring Tuesday’s affair, as their starting catcher Elias Diaz was the hero of the night for the National League All-Stars.

In the eighth inning and down 2-1, Diaz hit a two-run home run off Baltimore Orioles closer Felix Bautista that flipped the score.

It would end that way, 3-2, with the first victory for the National League in years.

Rockies fans are still happy, but if you want to see true happiness, take a look at the streets of El Bajo, where Diaz was born and raised.

MLB insider Daniel Alvarez-Montes posted a video of people celebrating Diaz’s heroics in his hometown.

He also added a cool, important message.

“While to some fans the All-Star Game means nothing, there are others to whom it means a lot. This is ‘El Bajo’, in Maracaibo, where Elías Díaz comes from. People celebrated his All-Star HR and MVP Award in the streets. He’s their pride and that moment was everything for them,” Alvarez-Montes tweeted.

Everybody in Maracaibo and, specifically, in El Bajo is proud of their big leaguer and all of his achievements.

The fact he played in the All-Star Game means a lot to the community and the city.

He earned his spot on the roster with a cool .277/.328/.435 line and nine home runs in 305 plate appearances.

He has also driven in 45 runs and has been one of the most consistent players in an otherwise forgettable season for the Rockies.
