A gunman shot and injured four people — three men and a woman — in Brooklyn before fleeing the scene in a car Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Shots were fired on Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 3:40 p.m. Authorities said the three male victims were crossing the street when a white 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe drove up to them. One of the people inside the car got out and fired a gun several times, hitting all three men — 21, 25 and 34 years old, police said.
The shooter then got back into the vehicle and fled the scene, according to the NYPD. Officers nearby heard the shots, and spotted the fleeing car. Police said the cops began to follow the vehicle on Myrtle Avenue, where the driver struck two uninvolved vehicles. All four people who were inside the Hyundai then fled on foot, police said.
NYPD Assistant Chief Scott Henderson said police were questioning three suspects. One remained on the loose, police said.
“We have three individuals that we believe are involved in this incident that were moved to the 79th Precinct and they’re going to be interviewed by the detective squad to determine their exact involvement,” Henderson said at a press conference late Wednesday afternoon.
Henderson said there was a “strong possibility” the incident was gang-related.
The three men were taken to a nearby hospital, the NYPD said. Two of the men were listed in critical condition Wednesday night. The woman, described as a bystander, was grazed in the shoulder with a bullet and treated at the scene, police said.
