The Dallas Cowboys have gotten off to a hot start to the 2023 NFL season, with America’s Team sporting a 2-0 record after two weeks with wins over the New York Giants and New York Jets.

Along with the undefeated record, the Cowboys have the distinction of being arguably the best defense in the league, led by aspiring NFL Defensive Player of the Year Micah Parsons.

Unfortunately for Dallas, the team suffered a major blow on the defensive side of the football heading into Week 3, with All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs going down in practice with a non-contact injury, which is never a good sign.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Diggs was feared to have suffered a torn ACL and could be out for the rest of the season as a result.

Losing Diggs would be a devastating blow to the Cowboys’ secondary, as he’s one of the best corners in the game today and was playing well before this practice mishap.

It appears that the Cowboys’ worst fears were realized after an MRI confirmed that Diggs had officially torn his ACL, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Although the Cowboys will likely continue to be an elite defense without Diggs, this is definitely a hit to the team’s depth in that department and may prove costly down the road when the NFL playoffs roll around.

In two games played so far this season, Diggs already recorded an interception, along with three passes defensed and one forced fumble.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Cowboys bounce back from this loss and whether they can continue to dominate defensively.
