As the leader of the Titans and the original Robin, Nightwing has always been one of DC’s most impressive heroes. Trained from a young age in the art of crime-fighting by Batman himself, along with an incredible history as a child acrobat before being taken under Bruce Wayne’s wing, Dick Grayson’s competence as a hero is nearly unmatched. And it turns out that, as Nightwing, he’s got stamina that’ll turn even Kryptonians green with envy.
While Dick Grayson is an ordinary human, he’s demonstrated a level of stamina that outpaces his more-than-human counterparts on more than one occasion. Teen Titans #33 by Geoff Johns, Marv Wolfman, Todd Nauck, Norm Rapmund, Sean Parsons, Marlo Alquiza, Richard Horie, Tanya Horie, and Nick J. Napolitano finds Nightwing tirelessly working to stymie the damage done by the Infinite Crisis alongside a winded Superboy, who finds himself questioning where a powerless Nightwing can even find the energy.
Many years later in Grayson #5 by Tim Seeley, Tom King, Mikel Janin, Jeromy Cox, and Carlos M. Mangual, he even manages walk for ten days straight through a barren desert when even the superhuman Midnighter had long since collapsed from exhaustion.
Nightwing Has Stamina That Surpasses Superboy’s
Not only has Dick Grayson been saving the world since before he had a driver’s license, he also practically learned to walk on the high wire, and as such, his entire life has been spent pushing himself to his limits. Combined with years of training spent under the Batman’s tutelage — and considering Bruce’s own methods for increasing and maintaining an endurance beyond human limits — it’s no wonder that Nightwing’s capable of feats that nobody else, human or otherwise, can match. After all, Nightwing is one of the figureheads of the DC Universe, and he’ll never give in so long as there are innocents in need.
While Superboy isn’t a full-blooded Kryptonian, Conner’s stamina should realistically far outclass the endurance of his human allies. Similarly, Midnighter is essentially a super-soldier, a perfectly crafted killing machine whose limits would far exceed that of an ordinary man. But Nightwing proved long ago that he’s no ordinary man. Despite being human, his true “superpower” is his unrelenting drive to serve the greater good and help others, even on a cosmic scale. It’s no wonder that he’s gone on to serve as a mentor to not only younger Bat-Family members, but Jon Kent’s Superman as well.
Nightwing Never Quits When It Matters Most
Nightwing is one of the DC Universe’s most important heroes, which means he’ll never give in. Whether Dick Grayson should be able to take the amount of punishment he doesn’t actually matter to him. What really matters to Nightwing is that he gets the job done, no matter the physical cost.
