Housefull 5, the popular comedy franchise starring Akshay Kumar, which hasn’t announced rest of cast or started shooting yet, has been postponed by a year. The film, which was earlier slated to release on Diwali 2024, will now hit the theatres on June 6, 2025.
Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 got delayed by a year, what’s the real reason?
The makers have released a statement stating top notch VFX requirement as the reason for postponement, when even the film’s casting hasn’t been done yet. The film was expected to go on floors in January 2024 which now looks improbable may be due to casting or budgeting issues. The film, produced by Sajid Nadiadwala is touted to be India’s biggest comedy with a whopping budget of Rs 350 crore.
The statement reads:
“The Houseful franchise owes its massive success to the audiences, and we hope for a similar reception for Houseful 5. The team has crafted an absolutely mind-blowing story that demands top-notch VFX. Therefore, we’ve made the decision to push the release to ensure we deliver five times the entertainment with great cinematic experience. Housefull 5 will now be releasing on 6th June 2025.”
Akshay Kumar and Sajid Nadiadwala joined hands for ‘Housefull‘ back in 2010. Now, more than a decade later, the franchise is about to begin filming for its fifth installment.
‘Housefull 5‘ has been directed by Tarun Mansukhani of ‘Dostana‘ fame. The film will also star Riteish Deshmukh.
