Since trading for OG Anunoby, the New York Knicks have played like one of the best teams in the NBA and are emerging as a serious threat in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks currently sit in fifth in the standings, though they are rising up and could challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers for the fourth spot shortly.

New York, under head coach Tom Thibodeau, has leaned into their physical and bruising defensive identity while offensively they find ways to manufacture points.

Jalen Brunson has been playing at an All-Star level and is a large reason why the Knicks find themselves in the position they’re in.

Brunson was pivotal in their recent win against the Miami Heat, a fun game for fans given the bitter history between the two rivals.

The New York point guard discussed playing Miami in the postseason last year and admitted that losing to them wasn’t fun via ESPN.

“Losing to them last year, definitely didn’t just sit well,” Brunson said.

The Knicks and Heat have seemingly rekindled their rivalry after meeting in the 2023 NBA Playoffs.

Miami beat New York in six games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, a tough ending for the latter.

However, Brunson and company are looking to change the narrative should the two teams meet again in the postseason.

As of right now, the Heat are sitting in seventh place though they recently swung a trade for Terry Rozier that should give them a major boost offensively.

NBA fans have to be hoping the two teams meet again as their games produce fireworks on the hardwood.
